The most challenging part of the whole illustration for me was the car. Creating all the reflections while still aiming for a smooth feel of the paint overall took a lot of erasing and starting over.
One thing I had to keep in mind was physics. Such as when creating light I was telling myself which lights should bounce off where due to wavelength since red has the longest wavelength out of all colors. I told myself to add some red light from the other side of the alley onto the building across.
Spent a ton of time looking at images of different window designs as inspiration. I refuse to duplicate window designs even if it is just two buildings sharing. This helps me create a more authentic atmosphere of a city, maybe in the suburbs I can duplicate as much as my heart desires.
