Malson
In Malson, you play as a young person who feels alienated in their own home. Walk through the procedurally generated house to experience this kind of life. Each day is as long as the main song.

Video game for the Global Game Jam '19.

Role in the project

I worked as one of the Game Designers and as the Music Designer.

Once the Game Jam's theme was announced, game designers, along with the programmers and artists, decided the way we wanted to tackle the theme.

Through a brainstorming moderated by one of the members of the group, we gave ideas about original mechanics, plot, and art style. At the end of it, everything was set in a Game Concept Design, and programmers started making the procedural room system while the art designer iterated the art style to one that suited the mood and was liked by everyone. At the same time, we, game designers thought of new possible mechanics, and with each iteration, we worked as testers. In the meantime, I developed the video game's music.

As a Game Designer, I was tasked to think about new possible mechanics while the programmers were working on the procedural system. This system took a long time, and as we were so limited in time, we game designers worked as testersreporting any issues and giving feedback regarding the game feel.

I am not a music designer and have near to zero knowledge of music composition. Thus, and following the gameplay of the game, music was made to be irritating and disturbing, with reversed and echoed sounds that move from left to right -only with headphones-, helping the player to feel unease in the house.
