Should You Grow Hemp or Cannabis Plants?

Should You Grow Hemp or Cannabis Plants?
Compared to a good chunk of the United States where cannabis is still illegal in many states, folks in legal states have got it pretty good when they want to just sit back and chill out with their favorite strain of bud. Whether you enjoy using cannabis recreationally or for medical purposes, living in a legal state affords you a few options that most folks wouldn’t normally (or legally) have in other states.

When you live in a cannabis-friendly state, you are presented with choice and freedom. How? Well, you have all of the choices in the world when it comes to what strains you could choose from the dispensary, or if you feel like being a real trailblazer, you could grow your favorite strains yourself.

CBD or THC?

If you decide to go ahead and start your own growth, you will first have to choose whether you would like to try your hand at growing hemp flower (high in CBD content) or cannabis (higher in THC content). The right one for you will mostly depend on your use case.

CBD is also known as cannabidiol and is the main active cannabinoid in the hemp plant. It is now sold in all 50 states, as well as all across the world, and has become very well-known over the last few years for being an excellent choice to help people suffering from chronic pains, epileptic seizures, anxiety, helping sleep, and more.

THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is the main active cannabinoid in the cannabis plant. It is the psychotropic ingredient of the plant, the element of cannabis that provides the “high” that recreational users love to relax with, and that helps ease the pain for medicinal patients.
What Are the Best Strains From Each?

This is highly subjective, as almost everyone will have a different strain that they like more than others. Your favorite strain will probably differ depending on whether you prefer sativa or indica strains. For CBD users, one of the most popular strains out there is called Sour Space Candy, a sativa hemp strain that is very well known for being calming and a big help for pain relief.

When it comes to THC users, the effects begin to differ a lot more. Many sativa smokers will prize a strain such as Lemon Haze for its euphoric headspace and relaxing sensation, while indica fans will likely enjoy a strain such as Critical 2.0, well known for its ability to help users get to sleep with ease.

Which Will You Grow?

If you are thinking about trying your hand at growing cannabis or growing hemp flower, all you need to consider is what strains you would be interested in trying to grow, getting them in the ground, and then taking good care of them until they grow into big, strong and healthy plants.
