Conceptual Fashion

Prototype 1

Concept:

This garment is inspired by the silhouettes and form of jellyfish. Transparency and shine are the major elements that has been applied in this garment. First of all, glitter is applied on the net fabric and then it was attached to the bangle. Then it was put at the shoulder of the doll and then the other part was fasten at the waist. This panel portrays the jellyfish structure as well as its shiny and see-through nature. After that, decorative used party hangings was cut and pasted with the ribbon and stitched onto it. Then it was wrapped around the waist. Hangings are long, thin, shiny and flowy same as the tentacles of jellyfish. Then m-seal was moulded into a flat flowy sheet like structure to depict the edges of the upper part of the jellyfish. It was let dry and painted as we see in jelly fish. At last, it was attached to the ribbon.

Materials Used:  
Bangle, net fabric, glitter, decorative party hangings, m-seal, ribbon and acrylic paint.





Prototype 2

Concept:

This garment is inspired by  the appearance and textures of jellyfish. Transparency, shine, direction and colours are the major elements that has been applied in this garment. First of all, hot glue was melted and moulded into a round and curvy structure. Texture was created and similar colouring and effect was achieved as it was on the reference images. Then it was put in the neck. Another round and curvy structure was moulded with light texture and no colouring was done, as the lower part of jellyfish has silvery colours also. This shows the see-through nature of the jellyfish. The other part was stuck around the hip. Circular caps was tied at the shoulder. These caps resembles as the dome like structure of jellyfish. Toothpicks was wrapped around the waist and the body showing tentacles wrapping the body and giving garment a structure. Copper wire is used to show flowy nature as well as to fasten the toothpicks.

Hot glue, Toothpicks, copper wire, circular caps and glass paint. 
Prototype 3

Concept:

This garment is inspired by the transparency nature of jellyfish. Coloured plastic sheets was cut in random polygonal shapes and then it was attached to one another moulding into a shape of a body. Then it was worn by the doll. After that M seal was moulded into a dome like structure and then certain textures was carved in it using carving tools and painted with spray paint as to show the body of jellyfish. Then it was used as a headgear for the ensemble.

Prototype 4

Concept:
This garment was inspired by the silhouettes of jellyfish. The upper body of jellyfish was imitated using net fabric cut into round shape and folds were given using iron. The main aim of choosing net fabric was to show the transparency of jellyfish. Then a shiny fabric was used to show the tentacles. It was cut from the edges to the centre as to show different individuals tentacles. Then it was wrapped around the body as a poncho like garment.
