Balance in Real Life

This composition represents the word balance. I created balance through having the same shape behind the leaf object but transforming it by flipping it both vertically and horizontally. I then had the leaf go in the middle to make it symmetrical. I believe that the leaf also helps represent balance because in my opinion, leafs represent balance of the earth and nature. I believe they represent the feeling of calmness, hence adding to the balance effect. I chose to use two different shades of yellow because I wanted to use earth tones that will allow the leaf to be the focal point and using a light yellow in two different shades did just that. I also wanted to be sure to have the leaf be green to make it the most representational as I could to nature. I then chose a light blue background color to set the tones for the objects but once again, not be the accent color and allow the leaf to be that.
I created these objects similar to the ways of my other shape compositions. Through what I enjoy in life. The background photo is of a a vacation spot I commonly go to in Wisconsin where I grew up, and the other is of a plant that is also at the same place where I camp. I wanted my shapes in this composition to be of what brings me peace and balance in life. Being in a place that brings joy and allows you to relax is the balance I need in my life that are the escape to my reality for periods of time. Being able to escape the reality of work and school is much needed to balance your mental health, while also you allowing you to reset your mind and find peace.
These are process screenshots of deciding what shapes I want to use and what orientation I wanted them to be places in. Ultimately, I knew I wanted the leaf to be the focal point so the key was figuring out how to create a stable background for it to sit in front of and what colors also allow the leaf to be the focal point while not loosing the meaning.
