Design Achievement
The Adams Central School District, situated in a predominantly agricultural community, encompasses an expansive area of over 300 square miles and serves nearly 1,000 students. Previously, elementary students were distributed across five small schools within the district, with each accommodating 100 or fewer students. In response to evolving educational requirements, rising operational expenses, and a desire to provide adaptable learning spaces with integrated technological support, the district envisioned a centrally-located elementary school to cater to all its students. Collaborating closely with the administration, staff, families, and the wider community, DLR Group undertook the task of designing a facility that aligns with contemporary educational principles for flexible learning environments, while also reflecting the community's values deeply rooted in the local landscape.

Scope Summary
The newly constructed 83,000 SF building accommodates the entire K-6 student body of the district, totaling 600 students. Notably, the facility houses a competition gymnasium, enabling students from the nearby Junior/Senior High School to host athletic events. Within the building, one of the standout elements is the impressive experiential graphic displayed in the gymnasium. This bespoke design, featuring references to the school's mascot, serves as a captivating backdrop for numerous school and community events. DLR Group played a pivotal role in the project, providing comprehensive services encompassing architecture, interior design, and experiential graphic design.
