“Dexter” Returns as a Limited Series

“Dexter” Returns as a Limited Series
Viacom CBS’s Showtime has ordered the revival of the hit thriller-drama as a Limited Series that will see Michael C. Hall and Clyde Phillips returning to their beloved franchise.
The slasher thriller Dexter will return to spook the fans as Showtime has sealed the deal for the show to return as a limited series which will probably be shown only to the premium subscribers of Showtime.

Michael C. Hall who starred in the long-running franchise will reprise his role of the feared serial killer in the limited series. Creator of the original show “Dexter” Clyde Phillips has already laid out his plans in front of Showtime for the limited series which will be quite exciting for him as he will return to the franchise he had nailed a decade ago.
Showtime network has ordered for the 10-part long limited series that will go into the productions no later than early 2021 (keeping all the precautions in mind). The tentative date for the series release on Showtime has been given to be around September-October 2021 but that as you already know depends on how smoothly the production goes.
The original thriller drama followed the complicated life of Dexter Morgan, who was a blood splatter for the Miami Police Department but in his secret life, he was a serial killer hiding in plain sight.

The Co-President of Showtime, Gary Levine, has made a statement in which he has revealed that the network was always willing to revisit the world of Dexter, what was important was an assurance from the creators that they have a plot and a premise that is “worth” looking at and at last they did find it.

We know for a fact that the finale of the Dexter Season 8 saw him faking his own death and living under a fake name in Oregon after he ensured that his love Hannah and his son had safely reached Argentina.

Michael C. Hall once revealed that he misses his character Dexter and there is a high possibility that one day he will return to play that role again. The reboot was in the plans of Showtime since the time when the former boss David Nevins was in power. Nevins, who is now the Chief Creative Officer for Showtime had revealed in 2015 that Dexter is the only show he would love to bring back.

Clyde Phillips was the showrunner, writer, and executive producer of the show when it was at the peak of its creative prowess, i.e., from Season 1 to 4. He was also a consultant for few episodes in Season 5.

Showtime will produce the series and Phillips, Hall, Sara Colleton, Scott Reynolds, John Goldwyn, Bill Carraro will act as showrunners.

Levine expressed his gratitude for the show and said that Dexter’s incredible story is the only reason why Showtime remained on top for many years. He reiterated the general stance held by Showtime for many years that the streaming network will only be willing to talk about Dexter when the creators have a worthy story to tell. He expressed his pleasure by saying that they have found what they were looking for.

Dexter is Showtime’s greatest thriller and is Michael C. Hall’s best work.
