For my Sustained Investigation project I decided to pick "What if Kobe Bryant went to college?" topic. I picked Duke as Kobe's university of choice because he was recruited the highest by Duke University, and they are also considered one of the best basketball programs in the nation. I started out by picking out a a good pick of young Kobe, so I could resemble his college career as close as possible. 

I used the content aware and clone tool to remove the Lakers name and number from his jersey. I changed the color of the jersey next from yellow to white by simply making it black and white. Then I began to replace the arm stripes with Duke colors. 

In this step I added the v neck collar with the blue and white stripes. Then I added the Duke logo and numbers used during the 1996 season when Kobe was supposed to be a freshman in college. 

I looked for a background to go with the image and decided to go with a crowd of people from a college game. The original player was Tim Duncan so had to use content aware to remove him from the picture. I placed Kobe into the background and then added some vignette to finish it off.

I felt like the piece was a little bland so I decided to add more pop to it. I got a Duke logo, and put it behind Kobe then lowered the opacity so it didn't overpower the image. Next I got a pen tool and outlined the visible edges of the Blue Devil "D" and then used outer glow to represent a glowing effect. I thought this made the piece look a lot better than before, so I stuck with it for the final step.
