The Goal
The goal of our project was to create an inovative design for a lifesized snowmobile, using only foam core board, cardboard, foam, tape, glue and a few snazzy lights.
The Process
We were allotted 2 weeks to complete our product.  During the first few days our team gathered as much information about snowmobiling as possible from internet sites, interviewing, and from experience recollection.
After brainstorming for many hours we developed the dimensions and a sketch of our dream snowmobile.

The work was divided among three small teams of 2-3 people; the main body, the arms and the rear tread.  Templates were printed on the plotter for accurate cutout sizes of each segment.
We decided to use my sketch for the overall look, and to modify a few of the details as we became familiar with our materials

The Arms
We wanted the snomobile to have the ability to comfortably adjust to any driving condition.

As two seperate "spider arms" the ST3 has the ability to...

 - spread the ski blades apart for extra stability
 - raise the body for extra ground clearance
 - lower the body for greater aerodynamics
 - provide a comfortable suspention system
ST3 workstation.
Teammates hard at work adjusting the shell around the connection between the body and the "spider arms".
The Body
We wanted an agressive look for the ST3.  We achieved this with clean slanted angles and an aracnid-like structuring.  The body is supported by two "spyder arms" and an enormous rear tread.  A comfortable seat, heated handlebars and knuckle protectors, and lighting make for a complete package.
The bodys framework was shaped for the outer shell to mold into the exact form we were after and to create a sturdy structure.

Looking much better!  The rear tread and shell are nearly finished.
The Rear Tread
The rear tread is extra wide for maximum power output! Featuring three independent opposing tracks, the ST3 has limited slip and terrific acceleration both forwards and backwards.

In two weeks our team of eight built this snow mobile with only foam core, glue and tape (and a few snazzy lights).
