WhereToGo Travel Website

WhereToGo Travel Website
The WhereToGo Travel website was created for a university assignment for DXB111 'Web Prototyping'. Here I learned the basics on how to prototype and create a semi-functional travel website.
   My Site - Navigation Pages
I designed my website for the target demographic: 'Backpackers' aged18 to 30 year old. This influenced what locations and what other pages I would include in my site. As a result I chose to feature webpages based on 'Travel Locations', 'Interests' and 'Deals'.
   Page - Travel Locations
Inside 'Travel Location' gives access to country webpages. These pages feature focused information for a typical 'Backpacker' such as 'Best Experiences', 'Places to Stay', 'Travel Tips' and even features promotional video footage
   Page - Interests
Instead of choosing a destination, 'Backpackers' might want to explore countries based on their individual interests. The 'Interest' features information and enticing imagery to highlight countries and very specific destinations a traveller may choose to go.
   Page - Deals
'Backpackers' may travel for months at a time and may need to stretch their dollars wherever they go. This is why a 'Deals' webpage was also incorporated into the Website so travellers can stretch their dollars further and chase some cheap trills.
What I learned
I created a responsive website which could be navigated through and used on both computer screens and phone screens.

When designing the brand of my travel website, I payed attention User Interface elements such as colour choices and typography. To improve a users experience I designed an underline in the navigation bar to indicate which webpage a user was currently on.

I also learned to consider the users of the website, and how important that is for tailoring content. This meant learning how to incorporating promotional videos, maps, additional travel information. I ensured all material for my website was done legally and referenced appropriately.
Design Rationale
Whilst designing this webpage was definitely a challenge, It made me become more familiarised with UI and UX. I continued to use these skills when I designed a web application for Fonseka Innovations.
