The String Quartet Tribute is a series of string quartet arrangements of pop songs released by Vitamin Records by several different groups of musicians, led by Todd Mark Rubenstein. They focus on one band per record, and perform classical versions of their songs, generally note for note, as well as an original composition for each album. They use a wide array of instruments but focus mainly on violins, violas, and cellos. Over the years, they have put out a large number of albums (232+), honoring mainstream and indie groups alike. They have put a classical spin on many genres of music, including rock, pop, punk, techno, hardcore, country, metal and rap.
This CD is classical music for an industrial rock audience. These listeners were drawn to the product from their existing appreciation of Nine Inch Nails music. They appreciate the same songs transformed into a new, sophisticated, and certainly more cultured format These string renditions respectfully highlight the complex skills and talent of Trent Reznor’s work. Songs were chosen and arranged to intensify the emotional breadth of the music. Industrial music as interpreted by cello, viola, and violin; experimental in spirit, it is the tribute fit for NIN.
