Beyond is a design magazine which features a range of ideas about creative and innovative thinking. It supports design outcomes which transcend traditional design barriers and rules. The magazine is about exploring the way designers break out of the conventional aspects of design and create a new path for the future of this field. We enjoy showcasing design works that have ‘transcended the physical limits’ and have ‘achieved more than possible’; as the word “beyond” suggests.
Issue 7, 'Beyond Typography' aims to exemplify that typography is a dynamic and powerful force which often has an imposing presence on the page and can alter the readers experience. We focus on its ability to go above and beyond traditional barriers of design, as well as its ability to constantly transform and develop over time in a way which contradicts traditional design ideas about the ways type should be treated. This idea is based on the two articles which are featured, as both showcase the ways which type has the power to transform the page.
