This project was to design a kinetic Façade (Secondary Skin) for a building. To design a façade multiple factors should be considered. The fitness criteria considered in this project to design the secondary skin was minimum radiation and maximum daylight into the building by exploring geometric iterations to get Optimum façade in all directions.

Initial Design Concept

Tessellation pattern formed by squares is explored by allowing a hinge movement on its sides so as to produce pivot movements along its vertices. This step was experimented so as to achieve a kinetic system. The pattern was also explored by moving some vertices along the third dimension. This step of moving from a two dimensional plane to a three dimension plane proved beneficial for improving the performance of the façade. 
                   A kinetic movement was achieved by breaking the sides of the square at the midpoints and allowing opposite midpoints to have mirrored motions of to and fro.

Façade is Analyzed  to understand its requirements during different climatic conditions and during different times of the day so as to make it climate responsive, the readings of which would also help when advanced mechanisms are installed to make the façade system function automatically.
The visibility factor of the kinetic façade was also analyzed.
