Piece #1 - Japanese Countryside
Using mainly, the pen tool and stroke, along with various other stock photoshop brushes. I found this specific piece to become slightly challenging due to me questioning what was the right amount of nothing. I wanted to convey detail but still keeping it at its bare roots. I think that the inclusion of the breaks in the piece using the main image added extra detail that tied everything together in the end. I wish that I had found a better use for the negative grey space, but within the timeframe I worked, I couldn't find anything.
Piece #2 - Chameleon Watermelon
This piece was primarily inspired by Andy Warhol's screen prints of various figures and pop culture symbols. Specifically, I chose to use the color scheme of one of his Mao Zedong prints from the late 60's.
I began with a similar background using a charcoal brush and some tree branch brushes I found on the web.
I then found a headshot of a man in a suit, and created three brushes of the jacket, shirt, and tie. Specifically making the brushes not entirely perfect so to create the illusion of a hand printed piece where perfection isn't always necessarily possible.
Adding the chameleon head I took from an image off the web and created a brush with it.
Finishing off with adding the watermelon, first as an enamel pin on the suit jacket, then throughout the rest of the piece. I also decided to put halftones on the subject of the piece because screenprinting with detailed images can sometimes require these halftones in order to make a sharp image with different values.
Piece #3 - ladybug in the sun
With this piece I used the shell of the ladybug to create a background similar to a sunset you might see in the late summer with purple and red hues.

Specifically, I made a brush with the shell and layered different colors over one another. I used this image to reference the colors.
I finished off the project with by making more brushes from the ladybugs body and attaching each limb together.
