I suck at using washes

An attempt at using acrylic washes to create darker areas and different values. Did not go well, unfortunately. I dont know if I will continue to use washes in the future, but I would like to keep using acrylics. Mixing my colours was kinda neat.
I screwed up repeatedly and kept lifting the paint as I tried to layer more.
I started over so I could try again from scratch.
I have a tiny fan (thanks to my roommate!) that I used to help it dry faster.
After it was "done" I used a coloured wash over the whole thing because my teacher mentioned it in class. I had to colour correct to get the actual colour to come through. The light in my room is actually a warm light, so my phone keeps trying to even it out for the white door. I'm still not very good at proper colour correction, however.
I fixed (kinda) the original painting as well just for comparisons sake. If I'm being honest, I didn't enjoy it very much. But I understand why some people would, and I love seeing creations made with acrylic washes. Maybe I'll try again when I have free time and can create something of my own. Also how the heck do people not get streak-filled brush strokes?? I can't get it to evenly smooth out.
