Lo' Frito Project was influenced by the belief that my classmates and I could produce typography amid quarantine with the elements surrounding us. I took the crazy decision of doing the whole alphabet inspired by House Industries' Kingpin font with fried plantains.
My dad gladly offered (hear the sarcasm) to be my assistant and helped me peel the plantains and half fried them. Then, I shaped them to look like each character. Later, we fried them again to maintain their shape.
