My first step when starting the Art-Lib project was to complete the template on Google Classroom. I filled in each of the blanks, and tried to be as creative as possible in order to put together the most interesting pieces that I could. After finishing the mad lib, my first step was to begin my project.
My next step was to figure out how to use the brush preset tool, and how to correctly size and place the objects. I really liked the layered effect that I created for this piece because it made the bears look more 3D and added more interest. I also liked how each of the bears had a monochromatic effect and I was inspired by the bright colors when working on the rest of the projects.
After figuring out how to place the bears and got more practice with the brush preset tool, I inserted a background for the image. I wanted the bears to look like they were on the moon, and found a picture of a moon landscape on the internet for the background. I cut out the back of the image, and made the brush a purple color to continue my theme of colorfulness for this piece. As you can see on my layers, I wasn't quite sure what I wanted the background of the piece to be, but ultimately I settled on this background.
My final steps for this piece included adding more layer and dimension to the moon landscape, adding another monochrome bear, adding the rest of the purple and blue background, and adding the rocket ship. When I added more dimension to the moon background, I used the same brush of the moon that I had used for the other background, but I just changed the size and and color in order to give it more of a dark and shadowy effect. For the third bear, I found this image on the internet and went through the same process of cutting it out and creating a brush out of the image. For this bear, I went with a lighter green, almost teal color because I wanted something to brighten up the piece. On a separate layer from the rest of the background, I used the moon brush to fill in the rest of the white space as a dark shade of purple. I thought that the background was still missing something, and I decided to use the same brush tool in a blue color to add more dimension in the background. Finally, for the rocket I found this image online and decided that it would be a great added effect if I put it in with the bears. All that I did for the rocket was use multiple shades of purple, and positioned it behind the green bear's head.
For my second art lib project, I created the desert background by finding a picture of dunes on the internet, and used the brush preset tool to layer the dunes and used multiple shades of blue, yellow, and orange to achieve this final look. For the sky, I used the same technique as before, dragging the desert brush up to the top to achieve the effect that I was looking for. I was originally going to make pigs skiing in the desert, but after adding the first skier I decided that I had a better idea.
I decided to continue with the theme of pigs doing some activity. I found two different images of pigs jumping on the internet they I thought would work well for the project. I also found an image of a shrub that I could use for the pigs to jump over. I continued to use the same process of creating the brush and changing the colors to give the piece a more interesting and unique effect. I also added the palm tree and sun in the background because I felt that the piece needed something extra, and it seemed to fit in the desert background well.
My last step for this project was adding in some of the colored clouds the background. My first step was finding an image of a could on the internet that could work for what I had in mind. My next step was figuring out which colors I wanted to use for the clouds, in order to add the most interest to the piece. I decided on a pink/purple theme because it matched the jumping pigs.
For my final piece, my idea was to make a bunch of cats playing hide and go seek on a beach. I found an image of a beach that I thought would make a good backdrop for the cats to be hiding, and I used the brush tool in multiple colors to create an overlay effect, and to add more dimension to the background. I found three different images of cats on the internet, and cut them out in order to arrange them in different "hiding" positions. I used multiple colors and shades to give the cats cats a more realistic look, and blended them behind trees and plants when necessary.
These are my final pieces.
