Mad Lib Project

This first image was my starting idea for the MadLib Project we were assigned. The sentence I made was: One piece is going to have zebras flying using jetpacks on the moon. For this project we were only allowed to use brushes we made or brushes that we found online. To start off I found a picture of the moon that I thought would suffice for my work. I used the define brush preset tool to create a brush of this picture. Next I searched for a brush I would like to use for the zebra, and I eventually found one off of Brusheezy. After I placed the zebra on the layer, I had to use a layer mask around the zebra brush because of the unnecessary parts of the photo.
I decided that I did not like the color I had previously chosen for the moon background, so I created a purple moon brush. To add some texture and to make it not as boring, I placed the same brush slightly over the last one. As you can see, it added more of a 3D view. Next I used the same zebra brush with a different color to add another zebra. For this specific piece, an item of technology was needed. My technology of choice was a jetpack to place on the zebras' backs. I found a jetpack brush and a fire brush to put on the zebra. I used a layer mask to add the fire and add an orange color rather than just black. Lastly, I added a red zebra to serve as the "leading" zebra. I used the same zebra brush and placed it ahead of the other two.
For final touches I inserted a zoo flag from a brush I had made. I added this to contrast to the American Flag that was placed on the moon when humans first entered space.
For the next piece my sentence was "A floating island in the air". I started off by looking up pictures of a cool night sky to make a brush out of. I quickly realized that a night sky would not suffice for this project so I resulted to the Northern Lights. I used the brush preset tool to create a brush and picked a light purple color. After searching, I found a very detailed picture of an island that I thought would fit my project perfectly. To make it seem realistic, I chose the island to be a green color. I used a layer mask in some areas to add different shades of green and black for a better outcome. When I added the island I decided that I didn't like the color of the sky so I changed the blend mode to "divide" which created more of a lighter blue. Next, I used a cloud brush I found off Brusheezy to add clouds. I added clouds on the same layer of the island to make it seem like the island was floating in the air. To remove some of the negative space I decided to add fireworks and a moon. I used a brush I found online to create fireworks and made my own brush to add a moon. I chose to make the fireworks yellow to add some brightness, but kept the moon a dark purple.
Lastly, I decided that the fireworks would look better if they matched the color scheme so I changed them to a purple/blue color.
For my last piece, I decided to create a giraffe floating in the clouds. First I found a multitude of cloud brushes, some of which I used on the second project. I created a cloudy atmosphere and decided to keep the coloring realistic. To make the clouds look more realistic, I applied many different layers and then merged them together. Next I found a picture of a giraffe online and created a brush using the brush preset tool. I added another layer of clouds on top of the giraffe so it did not look so out of place, and looked more natural. An idea came to me to attach balloons to the head of the giraffe. I found a balloon brush and thought to make the balloons all the same color.
Finally, I inserted a group of different patterned butterflies from Brusheezy. I made them different sizes and colors to create a better product.
