The wonderful opportunity came my way to design a pod-like structure that would house an augmented reality experience that Mercedes Benz was installing among the plethora of engagements available at the Mercedes Benz Atlanta Falcons NFL stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
The brief was relatively simple. This pod, of which their would two units constructed, would have to be a four-seater, use existing Mercedes Benz seats and steering wheel, have room for a large monitor atop the dash/topper panel, and have a spot for a head-height mounted webcam of some sort, which would be required for the AR view.
I happily began designing immediately.
Once I had a design I was pleased with, I rendered a few still shots of my model and presented them to the team.
Upon presenting to the am and all parties involved agreed on progressing my design, our in-house fabrication team could begin constructing and painting the physical units.
The resulting fabrication came out great and it now lives as a featured installation at Mercedes Benz Atlanta Falcons Stadium.
