Here's the sheep skull when I first got it. So excited to play with this!
I started with a base coat of two-tone black and gold acrylic paint. This time, I wanted to coat most of the skull, but leave a few areas with the natural bone coloring. I was inspired by the face coloring of a breed of sheep called the Scottish Blackface. Their facial patterns come in a variety of black and white colorings, which to me call to mind Rorschach paintings.
I layered the base coat with gold fabric paint, to add depth to the shimmer.
Using wire wrapping, I suspended a rounded rectangular bead from the edge of the eye socket to emulate the peculiar pupil of a sheep.
I added more shimmer topcoat, including purple glitter glue, to make the black and gold pop! I also preserved some flowers with a fascinating art tissue paper-like texture and a brilliant purple coloring, and placed them inside the sheep's sinuses.
Using wire wrapping once more, I centered an amber bead on the sheep's forehead.
