Early thumbnails during the brainstorming phase. Initially I was going for something quite dark and serious but I decided that I wanted to do something different.
I played around with a few things but soon decided that I wanted to create a piece that portrayed that moment where the seed of adventure is planted rather than an adventure already in progress.
I was drawn to the Victorian era, despite most people's preconceptions Victorians were very open minded and adventurous and I liked the idea of creating something with the potential of a stowaway.
I blocked my thumbnails out in google SketchUp to give me a better idea of space and then take my chosen idea and just give it a rough pass in Photoshop to make sure I'm happy with its potential.
I start experimenting in Adobe Dimension using its primitive shapes, Adobe stock models and assets created in SketchUp. I play with textures and lighting which will help me when it comes to rendering out my back-plate.
I populate my scene with assets from stock libraries, Adobe dimension and SketchUp, apply textures and then render out in Adobe Dimension ready for some fine tuning in Adobe Photoshop.
This is where I add in the actors of the scene, extra lighting and play with value.
