Identity design for ATHICA's Deluge exhibit
Following the record-breaking floods in North Georgia, the Deluge exhibit explored fundamental and timeless questions of how people inhabit the natural landscape, both literally and emotionally through our relationships with floods, their aftermath and the weather leading to them. The collection of paintings, photography, conceptual embroideries and a large sculptural installation addressed global warming and land use issues.
Featured artist, Tom Berenz, painted overhead views of flooded urban and suburban landscapes and submerged automobiles. An image from one of his paintings was chosen as the main image to build the exhibit identity around. To convey the strength and chaos associated with the subject matter of the exhibit, I chose a strong bold font for the logo and filled it with a turbulent water image, complimenting the color scheme of the Berenz piece.
