Beard is a 16 page minicomic. The cover is screenprinted and cut by hand. The reader opens the first smaller cover to "tear off" the character's beard and then opens the cover again to reveal the comic within. There is a small cut under the nose to keep the first cover in place.

 

Beard was listed as a 'Notable Comic' in the 2011 edition of the Best American Comics anthology series (edited by Alison Bechdel, Jessica Abel, & Matt Madden and published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt).
