Originally this piece was a tear in my wallpaper and I decided to make something of it.

Roughed out the dragon in painter’s tape

Cut out the details in the dragon and decided to add in some mountains. 

I thought that I’d be able to get three tones only using one color of paint, but the exposed area ended up having the same color as the undamaged wall. So instead I had to use some black spray paint to have it stand out.

I removed the tape and cleaned up the design with more grey paint.

After making a smudge with white paint I decided to add in a smoke mist.

Two and a half years later I decided to revisit the piece and make it completely digital. I figured that it’d do well as a poster so I thought to add the text in a similar style as the game’s cover art.

After receiving a less than pleasant set of comments I moved the dragon’s tail to a different position. 

Small tweaks were made after rethinking the design.
