R.I.P.D. - REST IN PEACE DEPARTMENT - Conceptual Designs by Mauricio Ruiz Design

 

I conceptually designed hundreds of character concepts and iteration for R.I.P.D. at Eddie Yang Studios, now Alliance Studios. Most notably, variations of the character played by Kevin Bacon named Hayes, Pulaski, some of the R.I.P.D. Headquarter’s Heist Crew, random background Deados and some final passes on the Nawlicki character originally designed by Michael Broom. To match the design aesthetic we developed at Eddie Yang Studio, a few images designed by Rhythm and Hues (Sebastian Meyer and Alfonso de la Torre), The Aaron Sims Company (Jerad Marantz) and Mark ‘Crash’ McCreery, required to be updated, revised, or finished. There were many artists from different studios on this project with a massive amount of work that never made it on the screen, of which, you can see many of the images I created below.
