Splatoon 3: Release Speculations and Predictions

Splatoon 2 came out three years ago in 2017, and fans have since then been awaiting the next installment of the game series. It became one of the most played games on the Nintendo switch, and the third-person shooting game has created a strong fan-base that is eagerly watching every update of the game. Even with the long and enduring wait the popularity has not gone down at all; the monthly festival is still very much in place. People still hold on to their breath when they hear there might be something new coming out. To date, the franchise has sold over 15 million copies. And until this pandemic struck, the news around the release of the third installment was positive. There were speculations of launch in April of this year.

But as with most things 2020, the game too has been postponed for the time being. But even as the third installment keeps us awake at night, let’s take a look at what we could expect in the next chapter of this franchise.

Game Modes

Previous popular modes will see a comeback such as Turf War, Rainmaker, Tower Control, Splat Zones, Tentacle Hunt, Infection, Splat Match. Multiplayer modes and single players mode will make a comeback as well. And some people speculate that there would be a full underwater mode, where players will be submerged underwater like an Atlantis for Octolings and Inklings.

Special Weapons

There will also be new weapons with special powers and will be called Ink Shower, Ink Canon, Ink Claw, Potion of Dinky Ink, Ink Tank, and Ink Bolt. As you might know, the game follows the chronicles of two different forms of species. These are Octolings and Inklings, which can change their form from Octopus and Squids to humans. And they can do this at will thus falling into situations that result in battling circumstances. Another feature or power added, will be converting yourself into a cannonball. This will make a massive explosion, blasting your opponents with ink.

The First Splatoon was one without a storyline

Splatoon 1, which came out in 2015, did not carry a single-player story mode. With the introduction to this mode in the second edition of the game series, players were even hooked on the game. After that, an extension of the story-mode was released in June 2018, by the name of Octo Expansion. And the story-mode thus carries a bulk of the reason for so many people waiting eagerly. Nintendo is juicing out the wait as much as possible. And since December of last year, they have given us no update of the future.
