The Environmental Port Index - Brand launch

The Environmental Port Index for Transform Creative
The Environmental Port Index, or the EPI, is a sophisticated but simple to use reporting tool, designed to help ship owners and port operators to chart a course for positive change.

By aligning the operational and environmental benefits of following best practice sustainability at port, the EPI empowers ships and ports to ensure a better future for their individual businesses, as well as our shared industry, societies, and planet.

Transform Creative built a team of specialists to help the EPI turn their vision into an effective voice. We developed their identity, and produced a creative platform to launch.
Brand workshop
The first step was to conduct a brand workshop in the EPI home city of Bergen, Norway. Art Director Andy Smith prepared a day workshop, and took the team through a series of exercises to exploring their collective values, beliefs and purpose.
Brand messaging guide
The workshop allowed us to create a Brand Messaging guide, which gives the EPI a consistent and focussed way to communicate with people. The guide provided the proposition and foundation for all creative work to follow.

Video
As an outcome of the workshop, it became clear that the EPI needed to tell their story and explain their product. A great way to do this was through video. We developed a story, script and structure of the film and sourced a combination of stock footage and content supplied by the Port of Flam. A voice over artist was commissioned to bring the script to life. Mikaela was chosen for her clear English to appeal to a global audience, and her Scandinavian accent to keep the story close to the brand’s roots. She captured the tone of voice of the brand and the sentiment of the story.

The video is used on the website to introduce the EPI, in social media as a promotional tool and at events as a showcase for the EPI concept and brand.
Brand style guide
EPI had a logo in place, which worked well for them and had some traction already. So we worked with that, and expanded it into a full set of visual style guides to make sure the brand identity will be consistent in all future communications.
Power Point template
We identified that a practical and useful tool for the EPI team would be a simple PowerPoint template. This is styled with the newly developed EPI visual identity and contains editable and fixed elements, to enable any member of the team or third-parties to create presentations which are consistently on-brand.
Website
The latest element of this project is the EPI website. This hub needed to act as their shop-window, brand ambassador, source of information and point of contact. Our copywriter used the brand messaging guide to write compelling messages and content, and our art director created a visual direction. This was embraced and translated by our web designer to give the brand it’s digital home.
